satWatch: First Iterations

long days ahead of me. thought to give a scrappy update while I continue to work and record footage of my project

just finished prototyping with a large format board for the smartwatch project and discovering a lot of steps along the way. Trials of a first PCB… + first time soldering with hot air, QFN packages, and itty bitty components that will blow away if you sneeze

lots of jumper wires…frustration debugging communication signals (which ended up being either bad solder connections or incorrect component for logic shifting). I can’t reasonably do coding/debugging on it as this lacks UART communication so this will be just be a nice memento

currently, doing lots and lots of work on routing the small form board including ones for the faceplate, external UART programming, and power charging.

atleast i really enjoy rearranging the traces like a puzzle.

should be roughly as wide in both directions as your thumb (so appropriately sized for a wearable despite arranging components mostly single-sided)

I do also plan to add custom PCB art after dusting off the drawing tablet, just to add on some personal flair
